PRINT RESPONSIBLY
Our goal is to take a leadership role in environmental stewardship for the printing industry through a process of constant investigation and improvement of our resource handling.
This is a good idea for our business, because the first priority of good environmental stewardship is to consume less. Our make-readies are very short and our overrun percentage is very low. This not only saves paper but ink, water and time.
This is a good idea for our business because our customers have asked us to extend our environmental commitment and we simply never say “no”.
This is a good idea for the world because we all must do our part to reduce our impact and insure a healthy planet for generations to come. We have learned to Print Responsibly and it’s a message we spread wherever we can.
In printing, it all starts with the paper.
Most of our paper is FSC certified, with substantial recycled content.
We have many options which are Green-e certified, Green Seal certified, generated by Wind Power or are Elemental Chlorine Free.
All envelopes and packaging we use are made from recycled paper, and we reuse all packing materials and cartons we receive.
Beyond the paper, we have expanded our Print Responsibly philosophy to every corner of our operation.
- We are certified as a Bay Area Green Business, which covers every aspect of our operation from lighting to landscape irrigation.
- We use only UV grand format devices, totally eliminating the heavy VOC impact of traditional grand format printing.
- We also use UV inks in our litho process, similarly cutting VOC emissions.
- We only use low-VOC pressroom chemistry.
- We even take advantage of our proximity to BART, the Bay Area’s regional train system and encourage both our employees and clients coming to visit the plant for tours and press checks to take the train. No traffic and it saves a ton of gas.
After more than 30 years of putting ink on paper, we have learned a lot about doing that efficiently. and we have been able to use that knowledge to significantly reduce our environmental footprint. We are always looking for ways to improve on this process and we make advances every year, but we are not environmental experts. We rely on our customers and our community to show us the ways they want us to deliver on our commitment to Print Responsibly.
